with Russ Hellickson,
former Ohio State University Head Coach (2002 NWCA Coach of the Year, 2X Big Ten Coach of the Year)

and Ken Ramsey, Embry Riddle University Head Coach;
former Ohio State University Assistant Coach (2X All American)

Coach Helickson shares the "drilling" philosophy he uses to keep the Buckeyes a national contender year-after-year. All drills shown simulate mat action from set-up to escape to better hone your wrestler's skills. Helickson's philosophy centers on position, motion and the power of the hips. He begins by drilling the basic fundamentals in three areas: Power position, penetrations, and attack positions. Incorporating all three areas, Helickson then details over 10 different drills. Each drill can be modified to fit you or your team's style.

with Mitch Clark,
former Ohio State University Assistant Coach,
NCAA Champion, 2X All-American

Mitch Clark was the first-ever wrestler to record a technical fall in the first period in the NCAA finals. In this video he combines drills with technique to show how to dominate from the top position. Clark begins with a brief overview of the spiral breakdown, passing along tips on how he has tweaked the move. From there he covers four different pinning series: Figure Four, Power Half, Tight Waist and Wrist Half (Clark's specialty). Each series is thoroughly explained and demonstrated. Clark closes with drills to help hit these combinations every time. This tape will give wrestlers the confidence to take the top position every time!

To be effective in wrestling you have to have a sound base. With this in mind, Coach Helickson presents a number of drill situations to get your wrestlers stronger from the bottom position. From here, Helickson goes through a number of drills emphasizing the stand-up, wrist control and hip heist. As defense is a critical part of the sport, Helickson demonstrates counter drills for high and low leg attacks. These drills focus on blocking, catching and having the opponent bear your wrestlers weight. By practicing the drills in this video, your wrestlers will be able to react and execute in the pressure of the moment.
